Actually, yeah. Kind of. One of my oldest friends in FFXI went organ farming with Muir and I once for one of her gorgets. We'd known him for almost 4 years at this point. Muir was very pleased when she finally got her last organ and I said something like "Grats, sweetie." He went "Whoah. That's the first time I've ever seen you use a pet name with her."
Openly, obnoxiously gushing-affection couples have always made me want to reach for the nearest blunt object, so I decided early on to never be that couple.
